Free time? What free time?

Free time?
This would never happen to a crafter.

I always start the weekend with a mental list of the things I want to achieve over the weekend.
I never complete this list, but I tire myself out trying to cram everything in, ending up knackered because I didn’t factor in any time for relaxing and doing nothing. Time and time again, Sunday evening comes around and I’m cross with myself for ending up more tired than I felt on the Friday night before.
I find doing nothing easier in the winter when the weather is poorer and the light fades a lot earlier. In the summer, on top of all the craft and baking I have planned, the garden is always calling me out to weed, mow and tend to the veg I’ve been growing.
This weekend’s list goes like this.

Make wraps for the freezer for lunches ( I love homemade wraps)
Make a batch of Peter’s favourite oaty biscuits to take with him for his week away with his new job
Make a batch of muesli bars for myself and Freya. – I have a great low sugar recipe.
Make the rhubarb marmalade I have been promising myself. We are drowning in rhubarb.
Take down my daughters school trousers. She will keep growing.
Take up my two new pairs of work trousers. My trousers have to be exactly the right length, with the crease breaking just as they hit the top of my work heels – anal I know!
Make a dozen oil cloth peg bags to a new design I have in mind for my folksy shop and August craft fairs
Go through my greeting cards and schedule how many I need to make to fill in the gaps for the shop and the fairs
Re photo alot of my items I want to get on Folksy. Photography in the evening light just doesn’t work.
Get further with my crochet cushion
Start a project from my as yet untouched Seeing Bee book.
Go out on my bike – makes me feel better about the good wine and good food we will undoubtable indulge in.

Reckon I’ll fit that lot in?
I’ll let you know.

I’m hoping for rain.

Love, Lucie xx

About lovelucie1

I cannot sit without something in my hands to sew, crochet, sketch etc. This becoming something of an addiction. In fact, I start to get twitchy if I am stationary somewhere, waiting for an appointment, waiting for my daughter, away with work, without some project to keep my hands busy. Minutes wasted make me anxious. This blog logs my progress to raise funds through my creations to feed my textile habbit.

  1. would love to get your muesli bar recipe 🙂

Hoping to squeeze a bike ride in this weekend, though will learn from last weekend’s cumbrian ride and take some food with me this time!

  2. I have to squeeze most of my household and business tasks for the weekend because of the day job. I hate that! You’ve inspired me to write a blog post on the subject, maybe, if I have time.

  3. Ha! That sounds so familiar! I literally have lists at the start of every weekend, with way too much on them, and then on Sunday night I’m always grumpy that I didn’t achieve everything…

    And yet I never learn!
