Me Made May Week 1

Me Made May Week 1

Just a little catch up on my first week of Me Made May 2015.

Last weekend my OH and I whisked off to a lovely hotel, The Raithwhaite Estate, for some ‘quality’ time. We had stayed there for our 2 night ‘mini moon’ last year. Located on the Yorkshire coast between Whitby and Sandsend it’s just under a two hour drive away so not too far, just far enough.

It’s quite a smart place which gave me a couple of easy opportunities to dress in my me-mades  for diner.

But first I wore my pink stretch cotton Burda 7051 to whizz around a few errands.Pink Burda 7051

The first night saw my inaugural wear of my grey Burdastyle cowl neck dress

And yes, that is a rather large glass of red wine. I look a little pink but that is the lighting, not the wine….at this point.

Sunday saw in some stormy weather but as the day moved on the rain stopped enough to walk the beach and cliff walk into Whitby.

Amazingly after this, the sun came out so I didn’t feel too daft wearing my Burda 7557 summer dress. I do seem to be a bit of a Burda fan.Dress 11 Burda 7557

Remarkably the sun was out the following morning as we packed to make our way back home. I was able to wear my Maria Denmark day to night drape top.Maria Denmark Day to Night Drape top. (2)

Tuesday was cold. Back at work I wore shop bought rtw. Yesterday I had to go in suited.

But today, with no meetings penciled in, I went a bit more casual in my True Bias Sutton Blouse. One of my favourite things ever.

So a successful first Me Made May week. I’m pleased that I seem to have made some pretty wearable stuff that I enjoy wearing.

However, it’s all downhill from now. I’ve a few more tops which will see the light of day but then it’ll be a series of repeats. I’ll just have to be a bit ingenious with my styling!

Love, Lucie xx

About lovelucie1

I cannot sit without something in my hands to sew, crochet, sketch etc. This becoming something of an addiction. In fact, I start to get twitchy if I am stationary somewhere, waiting for an appointment, waiting for my daughter, away with work, without some project to keep my hands busy. Minutes wasted make me anxious. This blog logs my progress to raise funds through my creations to feed my textile habbit.

  1. Congrats on a successful first Me Made May week. They all look very wearable to me, not just ‘pretty wearable’. Good luck with the rest of the month.

    • It is strange you should say that about the going out to diner in them. I kept asking my OH, ‘does it look homemade?’

      • There is no way that dress looks ‘homemade’ – totally looks like Phase eight or coast. Having said that I think the fact that it is ‘homemade’ means you have taken the time to custom fit it to you rather than a rtw garment that might not fit or fit in the wrong places! You know every stitch/unpicked seam/gory detail about what went into making it and probably remember those things when you wear it. I’m sure you will get some surprised/impressed comments when you say you made it yourself!

    • I think the same about yours! The vintage style doesn’t really suit me so I’m glad to have stumbled across patterns that fit into my wardrobe. I don’t get that much time to sew so I’m quite choosy and do loads of research.

      • Thank you! Yep, I’m finding fitting in even short chunks of sewing time tricky at the moment. I’m getting much better at sewing stuff I actually wear, but there’s still room for improvement…

  7. Well done so far, I’m sure mixing and matching is allowed – you haven’t been doing it for that long after all.
Is it just me or are you and your OH forever taking yourselves off for some quality time? I’m only jealous 😉
